Funding Opportunities for Electronic Medical Records and Genomics (eMERGE) Network
On behalf of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), the Epidemiology and Genetics Research Program (EGRP) announces the release of two Requests for Applications (RFAs) related to the Electronic Medical Records and Genomics (eMERGE) Network. The eMERGE Network is a consortium formed to develop, disseminate, and apply approaches to research that combine DNA biorepositories with electronic medical record (EMR) systems for large-scale, high-throughput genetic research.
RFA-HG-10-009 will provide support for the most competitive existing eMERGE Phase I sites and new sites with existing biorepositories and genome-wide genotyping data to incorporate state-of-the-art methods generated in eMERGE Phase I into clinical research and ongoing clinical care in a Phase II eMERGE expansion.
RFA-HG-10-010 will support a Coordinating Center to serve as a centralized resource to facilitate and support the eMERGE Network (Phase II) to incorporate state-of-the-art methods generated in Phase I of eMERGE into clinical research and ongoing clinical care in a Phase II eMERGE expansion.
Study sites should have biorepositories with existing genome-wide genotyping data and electronic medical records. Applicants who propose to study underserved participants, racial/ethnic minorities, and children are highly encouraged to apply.
These RFAs will use the NIH Cooperative Agreement (U01) award mechanism. It is anticipated that up to 8 awards will be made under RFA-HG-10-009 and 1 award will be made under RFA-HG-10-010.
Letters of Intent for both RFAs are due on October 17, 2010 and the application receipt date is November 17, 2010. NHGRI Contact: Rongling Li, M.D., Ph.D., Office of Population Genomics; e-mail: email@example.com.
