Jawahar (Jay) Choudhry Retires
Jawahar (Jay) Choudhry, M.S., a Program Director in the Epidemiology and Genetics Research Program's (EGRP) Clinical and Translational Epidemiology Branch (CTEB) and EGRP's Grants Referral Officer, retired effective December 31, 2009, after a 35-year career with the Federal Government. Jay was with EGRP for the last 10 of those years.
Jay joined EGRP in 1999 as a Biomedical Information Specialist. In 2001, he became a Program Director for EGRP's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs. Later, he became an EGRP liaison with NCI's Innovative Molecular Analysis Technologies (IMAT) Program, where he participated in several committees and co-chaired a workshop for Principal Investigators on New Technologies for Genomic Analysis in October 2008.
Prior to joining EGRP, Jay worked as a Biologist in NCI's Division of Extramural Activities' (DEA) Research Documentation Section. He also worked for NIH’s Division of Research Grants (now the Center for Scientific Review). He first came to NIH as a contractor for Microbiological Associates, Inc., in NCI's Cancer Chemotherapy Research Program, where he conducted studies related to antileukemic agents in animal models and researched immunotherapy and oncogenic viruses, including the Rauscher and Friend leukemia viruses.
