News Flash
The National Cancer Institute (NCI) and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) are cosponsoring a Request for Applications (RFA) for research on exposure assessment methods for cancer research. Investigators are invited to submit exploratory/developmental R21 grant applications for studies to develop, improve, and/or validate environmental exposure assessment methods applicable in epidemiologic research on cancer.
The RFA appears in the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts (December 22, 2000 issue): http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-CA-01-018.html.
Letters of intent are due February 19, 2000. The deadline for receipt of applications is April 19, 2001.
The estimated funds (total costs) available for first year of support for this program is $2 million. NCI and NIEHS intend to commit the $2 million in FY 2001 to fund about 9 to 12 new grants in response to this RFA. Because the nature and scope of the research proposed may vary, the size of each award is also anticipated to vary. Funding is contingent upon the availability of funds and the receipt of a sufficient number of applications of outstanding scientific and technical merit.
