from G. Iris Obrams
Associate Director
Epidemiology and Genetics Research Program
Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences
My Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Fifteen years ago, I came to NCI with the great hope that I could work
with others to contribute to our mission to discover the causes of cancers.
I have never regretted that decision.
Now the time is right for me to turn my efforts in a new direction. In
just a few weeks I will take on the challenge of health services management
for the U.S. Coast Guard. My new billet is for a position where I see
my future contributions at their best. I am excited at the unique opportunity
that this affords.
However, I have many, many deep roots at NCI. During my years of duty
with NCI, we have seen tremendous accomplishments from the work of grantees
and staff. These coming days will be bittersweet at best. I will miss
day-to-day contact with all of my friends and colleagues in the cancer
epidemiology community, but hope to stay in touch.
My NCI e-mail address (obramsi@mail.nih.gov) will work through May.
Iris
