Services and Expertise Available

For approved studies, the CGN can offer a variety of services for a fee(s):

  • collect 4-generation cancer family history pedigrees from enrollees, their families, and other individuals
  • assemble information for and complete medical extraction forms
  • obtain pathology reports and tumor blocks for molecular testing or to verify diagnosis
  • collect biospecimens with desired medical and demographic information
  • ship or store biospecimens
  • conduct telephone interviews with enrollees
  • recruit patients from high-risk clinics and tumor registries
  • provide genetic counseling
  • contact enrollees' treating physicians prior to enrollment
  • develop software, including computerized follow-up for the study
  • use multiple software systems for breast cancer risk assessment.

Specialized expertise in certain areas, including:

  • biostatistics
  • statistical genetics
  • epidemiology
  • genetic epidemiology
  • behavioral research.

In addition, the CGN principal investigators welcome opportunities to collaborate with research groups on important studies. They have experience in basic, clinical, and epidemiologic genetic research, and have established a track record of CGN collaborations with outside researchers.
