Integrated Primary Care Information Database (IPCI)

Description

The Integrated Primary Care Information Database in the Netherlands is a longitudinal observational database that was created specifically for pharmacoepidemiological and pharmacoeconomic studies. It includes data from computer-based patient records supplied voluntarily by general practitioners (GPs) throughout the Netherlands. GPs control data usage via the Scientific Council and the possibility of withdrawing data for specific studies. The database contains demographic and medical information, indications/prescriptions for therapy, information on referrals and hospitalizations, and laboratory results. Data are accessible for research purposes only through the Erasmus University Medical Centre in Rotterdam after approval by the Scientific Council.
