EGRP supports investigator-initiated research in the following areas:
  • Nutrition, physical activity, and energy balance
  • Alcohol and tobacco use and other lifestyle/behaviors
  • Chemical and physical environmental and occupational exposures
  • Infectious agents and diseases
  • Exogenous hormones and drugs
  • DNA methylation and histone modification
  • Social, cultural, and race/ethnicity factors
  • Personal susceptibility factors, such as reproductive history, immunological factors, and health conditions and their treatment
  • Discovery of genes affecting cancer risk or health-related outcomes of cancer
  • Characterize the prevalence and penetrance of those genes
  • Evaluation of environmental and personal susceptibility characteristics that modify genetic risks
  • Development and evaluation of study designs and research approaches for optimal study of genetic factors.
