Areas of Research
EGRP supports investigator-initiated research in the following
areas:
- Nutrition, physical activity, and energy balance
- Alcohol and tobacco use and other lifestyle/behaviors
- Chemical and physical environmental and occupational exposures
- Infectious agents and diseases
- Exogenous hormones and drugs
- DNA methylation and histone modification
- Social, cultural, and race/ethnicity factors
- Personal susceptibility factors, such as reproductive history,
immunological factors, and health conditions and their treatment
- Discovery of genes affecting cancer risk or health-related
outcomes of cancer
- Characterize the prevalence and penetrance of those genes
- Evaluation of environmental and personal susceptibility characteristics
that modify genetic risks
- Development and evaluation of study designs and research approaches
for optimal study of genetic factors.
Program Announcements (PA/PAR) and Requests for Applications (RFA)
are sponsored to stimulate research in certain areas. Access
our funding opportunities. Small
business grants also are supported. |
* Environmental Factors
-
lifestyle factors (e.g. tobacco, energy balance, alcohol, diet,
nutrition)
- personal susceptibility factors (e.g. reproductive characteristics)
- medications
- environmental and occupational exposures
- infectious agents
- acquired and inherited genetic factors
