Biography

Mr. Rivers is an employee of Kelly Scientific Services and works as a Program Analyst for the Epidemiology and Genetics Research Program's (EGRP) Office of the Associate Director and the Clinical and Translational Epidemiology Branch. His responsibilities include assisting Branch Chiefs and Program Directors with grants processing. He also works with NCI's extramural Data Access Committee (DAC) to process requests from investigators for access to National Institutes of Health (NIH) datasets, and monitors and tracks all genome-wide association studies (GWAS) funded by EGRP.

Before coming to work for EGRP, Mr. Rivers was a health planner with the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments in Washington, DC, where he staffed and oversaw policy committees on obesity, substance and mental health issues, HIV/AIDS, and co-occurring health problems. He worked with the 21 jurisdictions in the Metropolitan Washington Region of Northern Virginia, District of Columbia, and Montgomery and Prince Georges counties, MD, to develop collaborative policy initiatives beneficial to the region. Mr. Rivers also interned at Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Wake Forest University, NC, where he worked with scientists conducting health disparities research, conducted descriptive statistical analyses of data obtained by medical personnel, and analyzed cardiovascular, diabetes, and cancer trends among residents of Wake County, NC.
