Prescription Event Monitoring (PEM) Database

The Prescription Event Monitoring (PEM) Database is associated with England's University of Portsmouth and principally is concerned with pharmacovigilance, the detection of side-effects associated with newly marketed drugs. The PEM technique uses pharmacoepdemiology to detect possible drug safety concerns. The technique is most applicable for new drugs intended for widespread use; however, the associated database includes data on 900,000 patients and can be used for hypothesis testing.
