Think Tank on Quality Assurance & Quality Control for Untargeted Metabolomics Studies

Purpose

The Think Tank on Quality Assurance and Quality Control in Untargeted Metabolomics Studies was the first step in developing a collaborative effort between important stakeholders in academia, industry and government institutions to address key quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) issues in the untargeted metabolomics field, that were in part identified through a survey administered by the Metabolomics Society Data Quality Task Group. The objectives of the Think Tank were to:

  1. Identify the most useful metrics for assessing study and data quality for untargeted metabolomic studies;
  2. Identify and prioritize both processes to ensure appropriate reporting of QA/QC data;
  3. Identify the types of test materials needed in the field of metabolomics for QA/QC in untargeted studies.

Related Research Consortium

The Metabolomics Quality Assurance and Quality Control Consortium (mQACC) was established following this 2017 Think Tank. mQACC is a collaborative effort among relevant stakeholders in academic, industry and government institutions to address key quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) issues in the untargeted metabolomics field.
