Ms. Kaefer is the Communications Coordinator for the Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program (EGRP). She develops and disseminates information about NCI and EGRP activities, grantsmanship, research resources, and supported research to a variety of audiences, including Congress, advocacy groups, the public, media, and the international research community. She also is a Registered Dietitian.

Before joining EGRP in 2008, Ms. Kaefer was a Scientific Information Analyst in NCI's Office of Centers, Training, and Resources (OCTR), where she assisted the Cancer Centers Branch with communications activities related to NCI-designated Cancer Centers. Ms. Kaefer first joined NCI in 2005 as a Presidential Management Fellow (PMF). As a PMF, she worked on communications projects and materials for the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences' (DCCPS) Behavioral Research Program (BRP); NCI's Center for Bioinformatics; NCI's Office of Centers, Training, and Resources (OCTR); the Nutritional Sciences Research Group in NCI's Division of Cancer Prevention (DCP); and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. Prior to joining HHS, she served for 8 years on Active Duty in the U.S. Army in a variety of clinical and management roles.
