This cohort is made up primarily of women who are not known to have breast cancer. They donate breast tissue and blood (or blood only) and complete a thorough medical history questionnaire that includes most known breast cancer risk factors. The cohort is longitudinal and the Komen Tissue Bank follows up with tissue donors every year in their birthday month to ascertain if the donor has developed cancer, had genetic testing, or has given birth. The Komen Tissue Bank also has a relationship with the Indiana Cancer Registry to determine cancer occurrence for those participants who are lost to follow up.
