The U.S. version of ASA24-2018 uses foods and portions from two USDA nutrient databases: The Food and Nutrient Databases for Dietary Studies (FNDDS) 2011-12 and 2013-14. In building ASA24-2018, we maintained foods from FNDDS 2011-12 and added new, popular foods from FNDDS 2013-14. The modifications to the ASA24-2018 database based on FNDDS 2013-14 expand options for:

Note about hybrid nutrient values
Some foodcodes that are in both FNDDS 11-12 and 13-14 have some new portion codes in version 13-14. Although nutrients for the same foodcode are mostly the same between versions of FNDDS, there can be slight differences. The nutrients for the portion codes that existed in version 11-12 reflect nutrients from version 11-12 and the nutrients for the new portion codes in version 13-14 reflect nutrients from version 13-14.
